The United Nations Population Fund has named a new representative to the Philippines, Ms. Ugochi Daniels, who took the helm of the country office in November last year.

 A national of Nigeria, Ms. Daniels has been with UNFPA for eight years, serving as Programme Specialist for the Africa Division at the headquarters in New York from 2002 to 2007, and as Deputy Representative in Nepal from 2007 until October 2010.

Prior to joining UNFPA, she was with USAID in Lagos, Nigeria from 1999 to 2002 as MIS Manager/Facilitator and later as the Monitoring and Evaluation Information Specialist.

 She began her career as a lecturer at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in 1985, before joining the private sector in 1992, where she worked on evaluation and systems development. Ugochi holds a Masters Degree in Geography from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. She is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and holds a diploma in Information Management from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
