Typhoon Bopha/Pablo Situation Report (24 December 2012): More RH outreach in affected areas

A reproductive health medical mission was conducted in Barangay San Alfonso in Cateel, Davao Oriental last December 21. There were 29 pregnant and 72 lactating women who availed of maternal and child care services. This brings to 199 the total number of pregnant and lactating women served in Davao Oriental so far. Eleven of the 74 pregnant women are 18 years old and below, and 24 are in their third trimester of pregnancy.

The provincial RH Working Group (RHWG) and UNFPA also distributed RH hygiene kits in Barangay Banlag, Monkayo to 479 women, which includes 38 pregnant women, 29 breastfeeding mothers and 412 women of reproductive age. The village midwife also conducted Health Information Sessions (HIS) for the women. Youth volunteers assisted in the registration, information sessions and distribution.
